Week 6 of 6 · Forward
Maintenance and life-after
Six weeks of consistent re-engagement is usually enough to make a meaningful change in sound tolerance. The remaining work is keeping it. Pick a short daily routine, plan for spikes, and re-take the Khalfa one last time.
Ladder target
Level 55
The daily floor
DailyThirty minutes of varied sound a day. The LadderPlayer at week-6 level is fine, but real environments are better — open the window, turn on the radio, work in a café. The point is engagement, not the source.
Do today: 30 minutes of varied sound, minimum.
Re-take the Khalfa
DailyCompare the three scores — week one, week four, week six. The trajectory is the message; a single number is not.
Do today: Once, today.
Plan for setbacks
DailyHyperacusis can flare after loud nights, viral infections, stress, or sudden sound exposure. Write a one-page setback plan: drop one ladder level, do not put plugs in, schedule three quiet but not silent days, and resume the daily floor on day four. Most flares resolve in under a week.
Do today: Write the plan and save it.
Long-term ear pain, ear fullness or a new asymmetric hearing change should be assessed by an audiologist or ENT. Six weeks of self-work is a reasonable trial, not a substitute for clinical care if you plateau or worsen.
